What is a common condition that may mimic pregnancy symptoms but is not a pregnancy?

Ovarian tumors or cysts can produce a variety of symptoms that closely resemble those of pregnancy, such as abdominal swelling, changes in the menstrual cycle, breast tenderness, and nausea. These symptoms arise because ovarian tumors or cysts can lead to hormonal changes and physical pressure on surrounding organs, leading to an array of signs that may be misleading.

It's important to consider that while other conditions like ectopic pregnancy, pelvic inflammatory disease, and endometriosis also present with significant symptoms, they are more distinctly associated with different pathophysiological processes. Ectopic pregnancy, for example, involves implantation outside of the uterus and often presents with sharp pain and bleeding, while pelvic inflammatory disease typically is characterized by fever and more acute pelvic pain due to infection.
